Community post by Daniel Israel García Bustinza, Ayacucho, Perú

I am Daniel Israel García Bustinza, writing from Huanta, Ayacucho, Perú. I am a cloud solutions architect and database specialist, and I help organizations migrate to the cloud, optimize databases, and design high-availability architectures on platforms like AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes. As a member of the Cloud Native Ayacucho community, I have the privilege of sharing knowledge with a young and passionate community driving technological innovation in Peru.

This journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), which is helping us create communities like this one – not just around the world but also in places like Ayacucho, Peru, where starting a tech community once felt like a big challenge. In this article, I share my experience as a speaker in this vibrant and inspiring community!

Last month, I had the chance to share my experiences with a fantastic group of passionate people from the new Cloud Native Ayacucho community, supported by the CNCF. I gave two sessions during the event: one on basic concepts and another for those who wanted to learn more advanced topics. Both sessions went really well, and the participants were very engaged. The positive feedback I received made me feel so happy!

During the sessions, we talked about how understanding the basics and overcoming challenges step by step is key to building strong and reliable systems. We focused on topics that are essential for modern software, making sure everyone could take something useful away to apply in their own projects.

  • In the first session, we talked about Observability and how to create strategies to build systems that are reliable and strong. These days, applications grow more complex, distributed, and demanding. It’s more important than ever to have a clear view of how systems are performing. Observability helps with this by letting us understand what’s going on inside a system by looking at things like logs, metrics, and traces. And I’m sure you’ve asked yourself this at some point: What’s happening? Why is it happening? And how can I fix it quickly?
  • In the second session, “High Availability: Beyond On-Premise,” I shared how we’ve moved toward achieving high availability in the cloud. So, how did we get here? In the past, high availability depended on expensive, heavy-duty hardware. This meant using duplicate systems, clustering, and data replication to keep things running. Back then, recovering from issues often took hours or even days.

Then, the cloud came along and changed everything. It introduced elasticity, redundancy, and resilience with managed services, making high availability more accessible. Thanks to distributed architectures and modern tools, ensuring systems stay online has become easier and faster. Today, high availability isn’t just a luxury for big companies – it’s a must-have for everyone, from small startups to large enterprises, made possible by the cloud.

Hearing this gained a lot of interest from those who couldn’t attend the session in person. I received kind messages from people who couldn’t attend because of the distance but were very interested in the topics. They even suggested making the sessions available online or as recordings. This feedback made me realize the great opportunity the Cloud Native Ayacucho community, supported by the CNCF, offers to connect with even more people. Knowing that this content can help and inspire others motivates me so much. To everyone who reached out – thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your support encourages me to keep sharing knowledge and creating spaces where more people can access these helpful tools.

Another highlight of the event was Sergio Canales inspiring talk titled “Taking the First Step in a Community Can Be a Game-Changer for Your Personal and Professional Development“. Sergio emphasized how joining a tech community not only connects you with passionate individuals but also opens doors for collaboration, learning, and contributing to the future of technology. During his presentation, he shared practical tips for building meaningful relationships and growing within these incredible ecosystems. His enthusiasm for sharing and learning with the attendees made his talk truly motivating, leaving everyone eager to take that first step toward new opportunities.

It was an incredibly enriching experience that left me deeply grateful for the commitment and passion of each participant. Witnessing the community’s enthusiasm inspires me to continue sharing knowledge and strengthening spaces like this.

Despite the young age of many attendees, their curiosity and interest were impressive. Most stayed until the very end, showing genuine enthusiasm for learning and active participation (though I must admit—the pizza also helped keep energy levels high!). To make the event even more engaging, we rewarded participants with t-shirts for correctly answering questions about the topics discussed. This added an element of fun and motivation to the event.

I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Edith Puclla, Glisse Lisbeth Jorge Malca, Ken Esparta, Richard Zapata, and Jorge Yucra, who are part of the organizing team and volunteers of Cloud Native Ayacucho, Peru. Thank you for your dedication to this growing community that continues to make a difference!

I look forward to repeating this vibrant experience soon. If you are not yet part of our community, I invite you to join Cloud Native Ayacucho community, a welcoming space supported by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, where we share knowledge, grow together, and explore the most innovative technologies. If you want to be a speaker, you’re also welcome to reach out to us on LinkedIn!

Also, don´t miss the opportunity to be Cloud Native Lima and the annual event of Kubernetes Community Days Lima Perú.

Feel free to find me, Daniel Garcia , on LinkedIn and keep an eye out for our upcoming in-person events – they’re a wonderful chance to learn, meet new people, and become part of this amazing community!
